Land Acknowledgement and Reconcili-ACTION
It is important for all settlers to acknowledge that what is known as “Canada” is part of Turtle Island. Turtle Island is a name in many languages of the many cultures, clans, and tribes that have been inhabiting, hunting, gathering, and keeping safe since in time immoral. This is what is commonly know in the colonial West as the North American continent that was brutally terrorized and colonized by a number of European nations. In “Canada” the two main colonial powers that harshly abused and harm the land, the beings, and the way of life. They were the British Empire and the French Colony. Prior to the existence of “Canada”, a little more than 150 years ago, many groups of people were sharing the land with other non-human beings respectfully and reciprocally. As the colonies stole land, resources, and people from the original inhabitants of Turtle Island, many attempts to control and extinguish the original caretakers of the Turtle Island.
